August 27 Psalm 115
The glory of being a Christian is not for the Christian. The glory of being a Christian is all for Christ. We didn't save ourselves. We cannot do Christianity properly without Christ's help. The head of the church is Jesus, so anything good that happens in the church is to the glory of God. The point of Christianity is not to show ourselves as good people, but to point people to the Goodness of God.
The way of many in the world is to glorify oneself. Make my name great. Build my kingdom. Become famous. Have everyone know how great I am. This is the drive of many people. The problem is that even if you had some level of success in these areas today, they won't matter in the end.
Do we seek to make God's name great or ours? Do we seek to build God's Kingdom or one for ourselves? Do I want everyone to think I am great, or do I humbly point to the greatness of God? How we answer those questions will determine who our lives glorify. We need to approach each day- humbly dependent on God with the mindset: Not to us, Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.
How have you glorified the LORD today?
