August 30 Psalm 118
Sorry for no post yesterday. The verses were very straightforward in Psalm 117 and I didn't really have anything to add.
Today this verse reminds us of two things that makes life much easier to manage. Remembering that God's love endures forever is a great hope in times of difficulty. People will let us down. God never will. People may betray us. God never will. The truth is that God's love never waivers, even when we feel unlovable. Life is easier when we know we are loved by God.
The second thing that we need to remember is that we should turn to God in all things. We are called to help one another out. We are called to bear one another's burdens and to encourage one another. We are called to support one another in life. But ultimately, our dependence must be on God first and foremost. We can thank God for the people He has placed in our lives to help us. But we must not become dependent on them over our ultimate dependence on God Himself. We also must help others understand their need to depend on God and not us. Life is easier when we know our lives are dependent on an infinite, perfect, all-powerful God who also loves us.
