March 1   Titus 3

The overall theme of Titus 3 is that we should live our lives well in front of people and strive to get along with others.  We cannot back down from all arguments or disagreements, but we must choose our battles with wisdom and direction from God.

There are many things that we will find disagreement or annoyance with.  Just today I got frustrated reading the newspaper report from the school board meeting.  There was argument over whether Belleville Mennonite students should be allowed to play with Mifflin County in sports and how much they should have to pay.  A school board member said “They do not pay taxes into our school district. We have taxpayers pay for these things.” This fact bothered me because people who send their kids to private school still pay taxes and are indeed taxpayers that are covering the expenses of the activities. I don't send my kids to BMS so it is not really even directly related to me, yet it caught my attention and really annoyed me for some reason.

My point is there will be many things we hear on any given day that we don't agree or that we think are wrong and we need to discern which things we say something about and which we are free to just let slide.  Unfortunately, there are times where we let slide what must be confronted as Christians and overemphasize the things we would be better off letting slide.  I think we need to prayerfully consider what we speak up on and what we stay silent about.  We also  must be careful in how we deal with people who are divisive and just want to fight and argue. There may be times where you have to say that a person only wants to argue and never wants to listen, they are just in it for the fight, and I am not going to entertain or engage in the arguments anymore.
