1 Timothy 4
The fact that some people will depart from the faith is evidenced in our culture today. There are many churches that are barely hanging on to keep the doors open. Some have remained Biblical solid and just are facing challenges in a different culture that is a lot less Christian. Some churches have reasons that are more about not remaining faithful to what church is supposed to be.
A large number of these churches were once filled with faithful followers of Jesus Christ. There has been a decline in church attendance and faith. Some people are settling for being "spiritual" but not wanting to be part of a church for some reason. Some have been led astray bad teachings or cultural influences. There are instances where denominations have given into societal pressures and compromised their Biblical values. How could God bless a church that doesn't respect Scripture and follow it as the Word of God? This is the case in some scenarios where denominations are dying and their churches are shrinking in size. It would be sad and dangerous for compromised churches and denominations to grow and lead others astray.
We must watch our beliefs carefully and be training up ourselves and others for living the way God desires. I truly believe the Bible is still right and it is still good news. There are many people seeking truth, but if we compromise truth to fit what we think they want to hear we really have nothing to offer. We must remain true to the Scripture and faithful to God in our churches and in our personal lives.
