October 24 1 Corinthians 2
Do you have the mind of Christ? Paul ends this section by writing that we have the mind of Christ. This comes after describing how the Holy Spirit works in our lives. God gives us wisdom as we read Scripture. He gives us insight into how to live according to His word as we read the Bible.
We also grow to understand him better and begin to understand better his thoughts when we spend time with them. Think about in our human relationships. If you spend a lot of time with someone and get to know them really well, you can begin to see how they think and act. You can start to predict how they will react to certain things, not because you are guessing but because you know them. You know what they like and what they don't like. Sometimes even a look will give you an understanding of what they are thinking (especially in marriage and parenting).
To have the mind of Christ comes through relationship with him. It comes from spending time with the LORD. The closer we grow in our relationship with God the more we will understand his perspective. The better we understand God's perspective the more we can begin to see our thoughts become more like God's thoughts. In a similar way our actions will become more pleasing to the LORD because we will do things that follow his example. Have you ever noticed how you see traits, behaviors, and patterns passed down from parents to children. It is usually something they pick up by spending time with their parent. In the same way we should be "picking up" on the good examples of Jesus in our lives as we spend time with him.
