February 25    2 Timothy 3
Paul was warning Timothy of people who would present challenges to faith and in many ways to society.  Read the description in v.2-5, do these describe things we are seeing today?  In one sense it is a reminder that there have always been issues in this world.  People have been struggling with sin long before our current world condition.  In another sense it is discouraging for anyone who think that the world is getting better, and we can improve the world in our strength and by our own wisdom.  The truth is the problems in society really need a solution that comes with repentance and turning to the LORD.  More than more rules and accountability, people need transformation in their lives that comes from a relationship with Jesus.  
2 Timothy 3:16-17 is a powerful verse because it reminds us of what we just read in our Bible reading.  This is not musings and wisdom from smart men.  This is the Word of God come to us in written form.  The Word of God should be transforming our lives.  It corrects us when we are in error, guides us when we are unsure of what to do, and trains us for righteous living.  We need to read through all of Scripture, not just our favorite sections, because it all is the Word of God.  The Bible helps to equip us and prepare us to live for Christ in the way that we should.
