April 23    Revelation 18

In reading Revelation 18 we look at where sinfulness ultimately leads in society.  Sinfulness presents itself as good in the short-term, but in the end leads to destruction.  Satan never talks about the end results of sin, only the immediate pleasure or perceived fulfillment it brings.  Unfortunately, sin can be fun for a time.  If that was not true, then it would be so much easier to stop sinning and resist temptation.  But we know that sin leads to destruction and death in the end and is not worth the temporary "fun" of it.

At the same time, sometimes people look at living righteous lives and see that there may be struggle in the short-term.  In this world we will have trouble just as Jesus said.  Sometimes doing the right thing can be hard in the moment.  We must keep in mind where holiness leads, our temporary challenges will be nothing in comparison to the glory and goodness that we experience at the end of the journey.  Don't lose sight of the end results when you must make choices between temporary sinful pleasures vs. going against the tide and doing what is right even though it is hard at times.
