November 5   1 Corinthians 15

Let's pray for the election today. Voting is a right that we have as Americans that does not exist in many countries.  Vote your values and remember that tomorrow, not matter who wins today, Jesus can still proclaim "All Authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to me".  

The resurrection is a key to our faith.  If there is no resurrection, there is no church.  If there is no resurrection, there is no hope.  Jesus resurrecting from the dead proved that the sacrifice he made on the cross was accepted. It proved that "it is finished" was absolutely fact.  The disciples never got in trouble for saying Jesus died on a cross.  In fact, the religious leaders and Romans would not dispute his death on the cross.  It was the resurrection that caused the problems for them.  It was the resurrection testimonies that put people in jail. The resurrection is not just a wishful theory that we as Christians believe in.  It is a truth that all the evidence points towards.  I honestly could probably speak for an hour about the challenges to the resurrection and why the challenges cannot stand.  Perhaps on a Sunday night before Easter we will have a study on that.  There were many witnesses to the resurrection and many of them went to their death proclaiming Jesus raised from the dead.  Would you die for something you know is not true or that you made up?  I know I would not.  The resurrection gives us hope and that hope comes from a factual event in history when Jesus was risen from the dead just like he said he would.
