April 17 Revelation 12
If you remember after Adam and Eve sinned there was a statement to Satan about what would take place.
And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring[a] and hers;
he will crush[b] your head,
and you will strike his heel.” (Genesis 3:15)
Satan has been kicked out of Heaven. The word Satan means "accuser" and that is all he does. He constantly accuses people of not truly being forgiven or for those without faith tries to convince them they are unforgiveable. He also accuses God of not being good, but not to his face but to other people (remember the temptation of Eve). Jesus through his death on the cross can silence that accusation when we put faith in him. He died for our sins and rose victoriously. Satan will be completely defeated and sent away to accuse us no more.
Verse 12 is an eye-opening verse Satan is in the world with great fury because he knows his time is short. He knows he cannot win. He knows he is already defeated. Have you ever met someone with nothing left to lose. They can be very dangerous. Satan knows he will never defeat God because the victory is already won in Christ Jesus. We also need to understand that Satan could never defeat God because he is in no way equal to God. God is eternal, Lucifer was created. Satan does not have the power, knowledge, wisdom, holiness to compete with God. In fact, Satan's plan doesn't often involve getting people to become "Satan worshippers". He is satisfied with people worshipping anyone but God. If you want to make Satan mad just keep your eyes on Jesus and worship and serve him only. It can be challenging to live for Jesus in a world full of temptations. When we get to Heaven the accuser Satan, the tempter, will not be present, that is in itself something to look forward.
