April 13 Revelation 8
The silence and pause and Heaven must have surely caught John's attention. He makes note of it because up to this point there has been a lot of activity in Heaven. The pause and the silence let us know that something major is about to take place. In many ways it is a somber moment in recognition of what is about take place.
The trumpet was not representing beautiful music. It was used as a warning; it was a way of crying out that danger was ahead. When you read the results of what happens after each trumpet you can see that it was followed with devastating events. Some of these things look similar to the plagues in Egypt. We may not like to read this or think of God bringing wrath, but what is happening is absolutely fair and just. Humanity is not a fair judge of God's ways and plans in dealing with sin because at the end of the day we are not truly impartial and have been part of the sin problem.
