March 28   2 Peter 3
This section is a good reminder that we need both patience and urgency as we await the return of Jesus.  The earliest Christians, including the disciples, thought that Jesus would return in their lifetime.  Here we are couple of thousand years later awaiting the return of the LORD.  We need patience because God's timing is not our timing.  Soon for God is not the same idea of soon for us who are bound tightly to calendars, watches, and birthdays.  We need patience in knowing that God is not failing at keeping His promises.
At the same time we need urgency.  We need to live our lives in  away of thinking that the "days are short" and the LORD come at any moment.  We need to live our lives full of action for God as if the end truly could come at any moment.  This idea of living as if the LORD could return at any moment is also important because it may not be that he returns to us, but someday we will go to meet Him.  We don't know when that day will be either, so we would be wise to live constantly ready to meet the LORD face-to-face.
